College of Health Sciences Programs

Touro University California Public Health Program's research initiatives are housed in its Centers for Global Health Research and Community-based Research. In addition to conducting individual research projects, faculty and students also collaborate with local, national, and international academic institutions; global health agencies; community-based organizations; and health management organizations to develop innovative, interdisciplinary research initiatives. These partnerships create opportunities for engagement in public health research between faculty and students from all schools, colleges and universities within the Touro system.

Our aim is to support our partner organizations to design and implement innovative, evidence-based, public health practices that promote social justice. Our current research projects include:

• An investigation into strategies to improve the sexual and reproductive health of female entertainment workers in Cambodia;

• Several projects to reduce childhood obesity and improve pediatric oral health, conducted in collaboration with the Vallejo City Unified School District;

• A Fulbright-award winning program in Bolivia on research ethics;

• A series of studies of the role that midwives play in providing respectful, rights-based care for stigmatized sexual and reproductive health services in Ethiopia; and

• Ongoing Solano county breast cancer needs assessments.

School of Nursing
