We administer federal, state, and university aid/scholarship programs in accordance with applicable policies and regulations while striving to be an innovative and service-minded department.

My Financial Aid Planning Checklist

You can apply for the 2026-27 FAFSA right now. Then each year you will need to apply for financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which usually becomes available October 1st of the year prior to the year for which you are applying for financial aid.

At TUC, the summer is a header. That means the summer begins the award year.  If you don't attend summer, your first semester of the year would be fall.

Each year before you accept your loan offers, you will want to review your Cost of Attendance and complete a Budget Calculator to determine how much aid you will need to accept for the upcoming academic year. Be sure to consider any savings you have, if you will be participating in the Federal Work Study Program, and any other financial resources you may be using to offset your overall borrowing for the year.

You will want to monitor your financial aid status using the TouroOne Portal and accessing the Financial Services section.

Yearly Financial Aid Checklist:

Complete the FAFSA each year (beginning October 1st ) for the next award year
Use the Touro University – Vallejo, CA school code: 041426 on the FAFSA
Identify how much money you will need to cover tuition, fees, and living expenses for the year
Check your TouroOne Portal – Financial Services tab on a regular basis to identify if you are required to submit or complete any tasks (we recommend you continue to periodically view your TouroOne record throughout the year)
Check your Touro email regularly as this is the email we will send notifications, announcements, and other relevant information to so that you are informed;
Each year accept, decline, or reduce your aid at least one (1) month before your classes begin for the new academic year
Budget your living expenses between loan disbursements based on your "official" semester start dates plus two weeks.

Disbursement per Term

Summer first disbursement is June 3rd for most programs. If your program for summer starts before June 1st, the first disbursement cannot occur until June 1st.

For students starting the week of 8/3/2026, refunds would be processed approximately mid to late August.

For Spring 2027 students starting 1/4/27 - refunds should be available week of 1/18 for completed files and for 1/11/27 starts - refunds should be available the week of 1/25.

Navigating the TouroOne Portal

Each year that you apply for financial aid you will have access to your financial aid information using the TouroOne Portal and selecting Financial Services. Using your TouroOne Portal account you will be able to view your financial aid disbursement dates, track if you have missing documents, view your Financial Aid Awards, accept/decline/reduce your award offer, access various financial aid related forms, and determine if you are eligible for loan increases.

See our TouroOne Tip Sheet on our FAQ page.

Awards for the 2026-27 award year will be available in mid to late May through your TouroOne Portal. You will receive notices every 1 – 3 days via your Touro email address to remind you to accept your aid until you complete the task. If you DO NOT need financial aid, you still need to access your TouroOne Portal account and decline your offered aid. If your situation changes, you can talk to the Office of Financial Aid to reinstate your aid.

TIP: Before you accept your financial aid you must read through and complete the information under the Terms and Conditions tab. Once you have reviewed the terms and conditions information you will then be given access the Accept Award Offer tab. Be sure you have completed your Budget Calculator for the year so you only borrow what you need.

Loan Reduction and Increases

You may find that you over budgeted and need to reduce your loans and return some of your funds after you receive your loan disbursement. You can return funds within the first 2 weeks after you receive your loan disbursement by completing a Loan Revision Request Form located on TouroOne and sending it to tuc.finaid@touro.edu. This is the best option because we will return the funds directly to the U.S. Department of Education and it will be like that portion of the loan never happened. This will:

1) Save you interest,

2) Save you from being charged origination fees on the portion you return, and

3) These funds will be available for you to access throughout the academic year if you find you have an emergency or are running short on funds.

If you discover you have borrowed too much for the semester and the 2 weeks has passed, email tuc.finaid@touro.edu and we will advise you on your options and help you determine if your future disbursements should be reduced to avoid you having excess funds that you do not need each semester.

Increasing Your Loans:

You may find that the budget you worked out was a little tight and you are running short on funds at the end of a semester. In this case, if you did not accept the maximum loans you were originally offered at the beginning of the year, you may have the option to ask for additional funds.

Check TouroOne to see if you have remaining eligibility. See the TouroOne Tip Sheet on our FAQ page for details on where to find the information.

Loan increases usually take 3 - 4 weeks to process from the time you make your request to the time the Bursar's Office deposits funds into your bank via direct deposit or provided to you as a check. Be sure to plan accordingly.
